May 23, 1938 – October 7, 2017

 

James D. Fenton, 79 years old from Bluford, IL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 7, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  James David Fenton was born in Wayne County Illinois south of Sims. He was the son of Clarence Leslie (Slu) Fenton and Gertrude Irene Beasley Fenton.

 

He was saved as a young man at the Sims Missionary Baptist Church and baptized in Dry Fork Creek east of Pin Oak Church.  He was a member of the Keenes Missionary Baptist Church.    

 

He married Elizabeth Ann Young on October 2, 1959 at the home of his Aunt and Uncle, Reverend Otis and Louise Fenton in Sims, IL with Otis officiating.

 

Jim worked in Wayne City as a young man for Herman Woolever Sawmill, Kissner Feedmill, and Estel Barnard and Son.  Later, he and his wife moved northwest of Keenes, IL where they continued grain farming and started their dairy operation in 1970. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ann (Young) Fenton of 58 years.  They raised four children who also survive: David and his wife Debra Fenton of Bluford, Sheila and her husband Dwain Walker of Fairfield, Anita and her husband Ron Adcock of Bluford, and Andria and her husband Chris Lequerica also of Bluford.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandchildren Lisa and Kenny Hayes, and their children Christopher and Dylan Brown, Joseph and Brittany Fenton, and their children Jesse and Zoya Fenton, and Benjamin Lequerica.  He is also survived by his sisters Jean Coffman of Hilo, Hawaii, Judy and her husband Steve White and family of Soddy Daisy, TN, and a brother Mitchell and his wife Lyla Fenton and family of Keenes, IL.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two grandchildren.

 

Some of his favorite things that he enjoyed doing was going to auctions with his wife, and his dogs.

 

Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 at the Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL.

 

Funeral services for James David Fenton will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, October 11th at the funeral home.

 

Burial will follow at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
