Barbara Karen Sehr, 78, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at her home in Wayne City. Barbara was born on January 10, 1948 in Heidelberg, Germany to Robert Sehr, Sr. & Waltud Maria Sehr.
On April, 15 2023 she married Roberta Price, who survives.
Barbara came to the United States when she was 10 years old. She lived in St. Louis, MO until her parents moved to New Jersey. Later as a teenager, Barbara's mother moved to New Hampshire, where she completed her High School years. Barbara went to college in Texas, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She attended the Mt. Vernon Unitarian Universalist Fellowship church of Mt. Vernon, IL and previously attended the Gift of Grace Lutheran church in Seattle, WA.
She was an author, journalist, and an accomplished writer. She performed standup comedy and was a concert pianist. She loved spaghetti, and loved going to DiMaggio’s Pizza in Fairfield, IL. She enjoyed watching the Rachel Maddow program on tv, and she was an avid Seattle Mariners baseball fan. She loved to travel, and she especially loved visiting Seattle, Washington.
Barbara is survived by her wife Roberta Price of Summerville, SC; her son Alex Sehr of Reno, NV; her daughter Amelia Sehr of Portland, OR; her grandchildren: Donny Sehr and Emily Sehr; step-children: Diane (Jonathan) Jones, and Scott William Price; step-great-grandchildren: Alex Jones (and husband Ancel Tingston), Samantha Abukdair (and husband Moe), Jaxon Lloyd, Layla Abukdair, and Sophia Abukdair; and several close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.
A memorial service for Barbara Karen Sehr will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL.
