Bonnie Marie (Austin) Sanders

Bonnie Marie Sanders, 90, a resident of Wayne City, IL passed away at her home on Thursday, April 29, 2021.  She was born January 13, 1931 in Keenes, IL to her parents Clyde & Blanche (Smothers) Austin.  On March 30, 1947 she married Marvin L. Sanders, who preceded her in death.

She had previously worked at the Wayne City Manufacturing dress factory as a seamstress.  She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Piecemakers quilting group in Wayne City.  She was also a member of the Keenes Missionary Baptist Church.

Bonnie is survived by a son David (Georgina) Sanders of Wayne City, a daughter Annette (Terry) Koker of Gibson City, IL; a sister Lela (Carl) Green of Dekalb, IL; a brother Billy (Laura) Austin of Elburn, IL; 2 half brothers: Charles Austin and James Austin, and a half sister Dolly, 3 grandsons: Duane (Sandy) Sanders of Cisne, IL; Matthew (Cari) Sanders of Wayne City, and Austin Koker of Gibson City; 3 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and special caregivers Rhonda Willet and Chasity Slankard.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Sanders, both parents, a stepmother Opal Austin, a sister Ann Baker.

A graveside service for Bonnie Marie Sanders will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.  Those attending are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the Keenes Missionary Baptist Church and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, which is in charge of the arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.youngfuneralhomellc.com
