Dorothy Alene (Wilson) Lemmon

Dorothy Alene Lemmon, 91, of Mt. Vernon, IL and formerly of Wayne City, IL passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, IL.

Dorothy was born September 19, 1930 in Wayne City, IL the daughter of Curt Wilson & Etta (Easley) Wilson.  On June 18, 1952 she married John Donald Lemmon, who preceded her in death.

Dorothy was a homemaker, and a member of the Wayne City Baptist Church.  She enjoyed hiking, walking, fishing, camping, travelling, tending to her pets, and spending time with family & friends.

Dorothy is survived by a son Gary Peyton & wife Cheri of Arizona, a daughter Jackie Hayes of Belle Rive, IL; 2 grandchildren: Ronnie Peyton and Jeffrey Peyton; 3 great grandchildren: Donny Peyton, William Peyton, and James Peyton; 1 great-great grandchild Knox Peyton.  Dorothy’s family would also like to acknowledge the exceptional level of care that was provided by her hospice nurse Carrie with Residential Hospice.

She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband John Donald Lemmon, a daughter Donna Jean Lemmon, 2 brothers: Allen Wilson and Lowell Wilson, a great-granddaughter Amanda Nicole Peyton, and a son-in-law Michael Hayes.

A graveside funeral service for Dorothy Alene Lemmon will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL with Rev. Richard McCormick officiating.  Those who attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.  A private family ceremony will be held prior to the graveside service at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, followed by a procession to the cemetery.
