Eber Eugene Burgess

Eber Eugene Burgess, 95, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Aperion Care in Fairfield, IL.

Eber was born at home on October 7, 1926 in Papertown, IL.  He married Aline (Thomas) Burgess, who preceded him in death.

Eber worked for many years as a farmer, before retiring.  He enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting at the “coffee shop” in Wayne City and enjoyed going out to eat at restaurants with his family.  He was a member of the Bluford American Legion Post #1193 and he was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War Era.

Eber is survived by a son Eddie Burgess of Mt. Vernon, IL; daughter Robin (Eric) Wodicker of Wayne City, IL; 8 grandchildren:  Tony Burgess, Shawn Burgess, Chris Burgess, Dakota Burgess, Adam (Rachel) Minor, Ryan Minor, Daniel Wodicker, and Noah Wodicker, 3 great grandchildren: Ava Minor, Liam Minor, and Desmond Burgess, and 2 sisters:  Elbertia Shuler & Lisa Flagg.

He was preceded in death by both parents, 2 brothers: Loren Burgess and Larry Burgess, and a sister Carolyn (Burgess) McDowell.
