Jackie "Jack" Ross Youngblood

Jack R. Youngblood, 71, a resident of Wayne City, IL passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 at his home.

He was born on August 24, 1949 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the son of Charles A. and Eleanor Lucille (Smith) Youngblood.  On May 11, 1974 he married Patrice Clare (Surdyke) Youngblood, who survives.

Jack worked as a High School teacher, teaching Business courses; he owned and operated an Auto and Stereo business in Wayne City, and he owned and operated Youngblood Construction in Wayne City.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran, who served during the Vietnam War era while stationed in Germany as a radar repairman.

He enjoyed rabbit hunting, fishing, gardening, spending time with his grandkids, telling stories, and he was an avid conservationist who planted over 30,000 hardwood trees for Illinois Acres for Wildlife.

Jack is survived by his wife Patrice Youngblood of Wayne City, daughter Jill Youngblood (fiancé Randall Irwin) of Mt. Vernon, IL; son Wayne (wife Whitney) Youngblood of Fairfield, IL; daughter Carly (husband Michael) Lowery of Barnhill, IL; daughter-in-law Susan Youngblood of Wayne City, brother Dan Youngblood of Wayne City and brother Randy (wife DeLinda) Youngblood of Kell, IL; 4 grandchildren: Jaxson & Jaycee Youngblood and Zayne & Casten Lowery, his best friend Ronnie Pearl Scoville of Mt. Vernon, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents, a son Leslie “Chucker” Youngblood, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Mindy & Casey Surdyke, and a sister-in-law Joyce Youngblood.

A Memorial Service for Jack R. Youngblood will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youngblood family, to the care of Patrice Youngblood and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home.
