Jerry Lee Waters, 81, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Axiom Gardens of Mount Vernon in Mount Vernon, IL. Jerry was born July 13, 1943 in Aden, IL to Hubert Lee Waters & Joy Gertrude (Riggs) Waters.
Jerry was self-employed, delivering and setting up mobile homes for various local mobile home dealers. He was known for being a dependable worker with a strong work ethic. He loved buying, selling, and trading. He also loved fast cars and motorcycles. For many years he enjoyed raising horses and trail riding, and he also enjoyed hunting and loved fishing.
Jerry is survived by a son Tony Waters & wife Tara of Centralia, IL; a son Jerry “Brett” Waters Jr. of Carmi, IL; a daughter Kathy Young of Louisiana; 6 grandchildren, including his grandson Joshua Zoph, who Jerry helped raise in his early years; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother Richard Waters & wife Elaine of Mt. Erie, IL; a sister Pam Shaver & husband Tim of Noble, IL; 2 nieces: Angie Shultz and Amanda Harrington; 1 great-niece, 3 great-nephews, and longtime companion Linda Bruce and her extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Hubert & Joy Waters, and a brother Larry Waters.
A graveside funeral service for Jerry Lee Waters will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL with Pastor Ed Foley officiating. Those attending are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
