Obituary

Larry Ray Shaw, 83, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at his home.  Larry was born October 10, 1939 in Keenes, IL the son of Arvil Shaw and Doris (Payne) Dove.  On April 20, 1959, he married Sharon (Henry) Shaw, who survives.

Larry worked at Airtex in Fairfield, IL for 42 years, before retiring in 2002.  He started as an operator, then started working in the maintenance department, and eventually became Plant Superintendent.  Larry and his wife Sharon attended the Keenes Christian Church in Keenes, IL.  He loved fishing, buying & selling antiques, deer hunting, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Larry is survived by his wife Sharon Shaw of Wayne City, IL; a son Terry (Jeanie) Shaw of Keenes, a daughter Tina (Terry) Marlow of Bluford, IL; 4 grandchildren: Yvette (Jeremy) Anderson of Wayne City, Jessica (Travis) Hughes of Johnsonville, IL; Whitney (Wayne) Youngblood of Fairfield, IL; Kasey (Kevin) Young of Bluford, IL; 6 great grandchildren: Hallie (Ryan) Littlejohn of Olney, IL; Meghan Anderson of Wayne City, Rylie Backes of Johnsonville, Luke Hughes of Johnsonville, Jenna Young of Bluford and Libby Young of Bluford; 4 sisters-in-law: Dorris Bass of Wayne City, Alice (Dean) Brookman of Bluford, Phyllis Henry of Mt. Vernon, IL and Tammie Henry of Mt. Vernon, IL; a nephew Mike Storment of Elgin, IL; a niece Lisa Storment of Elgin, a great nephew Jaben Storment of Elgin, a cousin Donna (Rick) Hayes, and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charlie & Laura Shaw and Calvin & Goldie Payne, who helped a great deal in raising Larry when he was young, his father Arvil Shaw & step-mother Alice Shaw, his mother Doris Dove & step-father “Rowdy” Dove, a sister Louise (Ronald) Storment, a half-brother Robert Dove, his mother-in-law Maxine Henry, who could talk Larry out of anything if she wanted to, 6 brothers-in-law: Fletcher Bass, Earl (Linda) Henry, Gary Henry, Larry Henry, Sam (Judy) Henry, and Dannie Henry, a sister-in-law Iris (Jackie) Shell, 4 nephews, and 1 niece.

Funeral services for Larry Ray Shaw will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL with Bro. LaMar Choate officiating.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Young Funeral Home.  Interment will follow the funeral services Sunday at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
