Clarence “Leon” Johnson, 71, of Keenes, IL passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital in Fairfield, IL. Leon was born on September 15, 1952 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Clarence Edward Johnson & Katie (Rapp) Johnson. On July 17, 1976 he married Barbara (Pennington) Johnson, who survives.
Leon worked for many years as an electrician, and was owner of Johnson Electric. He later worked for Toyota in Princeton, IN in conveyance. Leon was a member of the NHPA (National Horseshoe Pitchers Association) and had attended Ten Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church in Keenes, IL. Leon enjoyed pitching horseshoes, “hogging or noodling” fishing, researching genealogy, farming, and spending time with his family & friends.
Leon is survived by his wife Barbara Johnson, 3 sons: Jeremy (Melissa) Johnson of Benton, IL; David Johnson of Keenes, and Thomas (Ashlee) Johnson of Barnhill, IL; one daughter Patricia Johnson of Princeton, IN; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 brothers: Lavern (Dorothy) Johnson of Keenes and Danny (Peggy) Johnson of Keenes; and 2 sisters: Barbara McKinney of Cisne, IL and Carolyn (Roger) Keen of Keenes.
A graveside funeral service for Clarence “Leon” Johnson will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024 at Ten Post Oak Cemetery in Keenes, IL with Rev. Wes Johnson officiating.
