Leslie Gene Youngblood

December 5, 1937 ~ June 14, 2021 (age 83)

Leslie Gene Youngblood, 83, a resident of Keenes, IL passed away on Monday, June 14, 2021 at his home in Keenes.

He was born on December 5, 1937 in Keenes (near Orchardville) at the old family homestead place to parents Rufus Alva and Cuba Altress (Rapp) Youngblood.

Gene had worked doing road construction for many years until his retirement.  Gene also was a farmer, who enjoyed baling hay and running the balers.  He had also served honorably in the U.S. Navy and he was of the Christian faith.  When he was younger and able to take care of them, he had several horses in his pasture and several that he rode.  He loved to go to the horse sales with his brother Dennis.  As he got older, his love became goats and his Great Pyrenees dogs.  He also loved the goat sales, traveling all over the state with his brother Dennis to buy and sell.  He was always there to lend a hand, and he will be greatly missed.

Gene is survived by 3 sisters: Susan (Charles) Keele of Ravenna, OH; Judy Matthews of Johnsonville, IL; and Sally Riley of Johnsonville, IL; 2 brothers: Junior (Cherie) Youngblood of Bluford, IL and Dennis (Dianna) Youngblood of Keenes, IL.

He was preceded in death by both parents, his brothers Marsh Youngblood, Perry Youngblood, Joe R. Youngblood, Jimmie Youngblood, Benny C. Youngblood, 2 siblings that died at birth, half brother Charles Youngblood, half sister Geraldine Cunningham, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

There will be no formal services at this time, but a private family Memorial Service for Leslie Gene Youngblood will be held at a later date.  Online condolences may be made at
