Mary Kathryn (Allen) Chambliss

Mary Kathryn (Allen) Chambliss, 94, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, IL.

Mary was born at her family home near Dahlgren, IL on July 3, 1928 the daughter of Elmer & Madge Allen.  On May 21, 1948 she married Charles “Junior” Chambliss, who preceded her in death.  Mary worked at the garment factory in Wayne City, she was a school bus driver for the Wayne City School District, and was a bookkeeper for Chambliss Welding in Wayne City.  She was a member of the Wayne City Baptist Church.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by a son Charles Chambliss of Wayne City, a brother Max (and wife Lee) Allen of Frankfort, KY and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer & Madge Allen, her husband Charles “Junior” Chambliss, a brother Junior (and wife Edith) Atchison, and a sister Maxine (and husband Onis) Marlow.

Funeral services for Mary Kathryn (Allen) Chambliss will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City, IL with Butch Rawls officiating.  Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service at the chapel from 2 pm until 3 pm.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomason Cemetery Fund, and will be accepted at the Archie L.
