Mary Jo Bruns, 68, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at her home in Wayne City. Mary Jo (Turner) Bruns was born January 21, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, IL the daughter of David R. and Mary E. (Patty) Turner. On July 13, 1974 she married Clyde Wesley Bruns, who survives. They were blessed with 48 years of marriage. Mary Jo was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, IL and served as the church’s bookkeeper. She was a self-employed C.P.A. for over 50 years, having provided services for many different companies – including her favorite: working with her boys. She loved scorekeeping for all the local racetracks. Racing was something she always enjoyed. She had a green thumb and was an avid Cowboys football fan. She loved her family and always made sure that the knew it. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Mary Jo is survived by her husband Clyde Bruns of Wayne City, 3 sons: James “Jim” Fuller (and Courtney Newton) of Wayne City, Tim Fuller (and April Fuller) of Geff, IL (April Fuller was the daughter to Mom in her eyes) and Tom Bruns of Wayne City; 9 grandchildren: Jon (Chelsea) Fuller of Fairfield, IL; Candace Fuller of Mt. Vernon, IL; Kashton and Kali Newton of Wayne City, Megan (Jared) Hayes of Mt. Vernon, IL; Mindy (Josh) McKinney of Woodlawn, IL; Samantha Fuller (and Blake Morgan) of Johnsonville, IL; Alexis Smothers of Maryland Heights, MO; and Tommy Bruns of Wayne City; 8 great grandchildren: Rylie Hatton, Ivy McKinney, Ryker Hayes, Brantley Morgan, Braleigh Morgan, Presley Fuller, Maverick Fuller, and Paisley Jo Fuller; 3 sisters: Nancy Pucket of Opdyke, IL; Teresa (Richard) Baker of Mt. Vernon, IL; and Patty Turner of Indiana; and many special friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by both parents David & Mary Turner, and a brother Carl David Turner.
Funeral services for Mary Jo Bruns will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City with Bro. Donnie Rector officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, August 23 at Young Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral services at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.
