Michael J Gregory

Michael J. Gregory, 75, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023 at his home.  Michael was born April 20, 1948 in Mt. Vernon, IL – the son of Noel & Eva (Feather) Gregory.  On April 8, 1967, he married Connie (McKeever) Gregory, who survives.

Mike worked as a laborer and foreman for the Laborer’s Local 118 in Chicago, IL and had previously worked as a mechanic.  He was a member of the ABATE motorcycle rider’s club and a member of the National Rifle Association.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Mike loved tinkering and working in his shop.  He enjoyed camping, riding side-by-sides, rabbit hunting, and making homemade wine.  He especially loved watching Westerns, and spending time with his 10 grandchildren.  Mike was a very social person, and he loved to socialize and enjoyed spending time with his friends & family.

Mike is survived by his wife Connie (McKeever) Gregory, 4 sons: Michael J. Gregory, Jr. & wife Twila, Mark Olen Gregory & wife Janet, Marty Leland Gregory & wife Tammi, and Mickey Vernon Gregory & wife Kelsey; 10 grandchildren: Blake, Jake, Katlynne, Jonathan, Drew, Hannah, Rachael, Tyler, MaKalyn, and Kayne; 5 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Cooper, Kase, Alaina, and Lane; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Noel & Eva Gregory, and 2 brothers: Thomas “Tommy” Gregory, and Noel Wiley Gregory.

A public visitation for Michael J. Gregory will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL.  Following the visitation, Mike will be cremated, and a private interment ceremony will take place at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to assist Mike’s family with final expenses, and may be made payable to Connie Gregory and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
