Morris Allen Newman

Morris Allen Newman, 85, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at his home.

Morris was born June 13, 1936 in Wayne County to his parents William Allen Newman & Lois (Legg) Newman.  On November 23, 1984 he married Helen Kay Newman, who survives.

Morris worked as a welder for Trunkline Gas in Johnsonville, IL and he was a farmer.  He enjoyed working, hunting, talking to people at the grain elevator, and spending time with his family (especially his grandkids).

He is survived by his wife Helen Newman of Wayne City, 4 sons: Brad (Lori) Newman, Robin (Gerri) Hufford, John Hufford (Trena Moore), and Mark (Brandy) Hufford; 5 daughters: Susan Sutherland, Kim (Curt) Matthews, Debbie Alford, Teresa Trotter, and Annett (Bill) Farris, 3 sisters: Marcia Keele, Diana Wood, and Patricia Schumm (all of Wayne City), 26 grandkids, 31 great-grandkids, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Shirley Newman, a son Eric Newman, both parents, a brother JayDee Newman, 2 brother-in-laws: J.E. “Woody” Wood, and Jack Keele, and 2 son-in-laws.

Funeral services for Morris Allen Newman will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City, IL with Rob Greenwalt officiating.  Visitation will be held from 9 am – 11 am on Wednesday at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thomason Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the Archie Sanders Memorial Chapel, or at Young Funeral Home which has been entrusted to provide arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.youngfuneralhomellc.com
