Peggy Jeanette (Walters) Boyd

Peggy Jeanette (Walters) Boyd, 85, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon, IL.  Peggy was born in Harrisburg, IL on August 26, 1938 to Woodrow Walters and Sarah (Hawkins) Luster.

Peggy was retired, and had previously worked as a business manager at Brushy Creek Coal Mine in Galatia, IL and had previously worked in Washington, D.C. at the Pentagon.  She was an avid reader, and she loved crocheting.  She was also a collector of antique dinnerware and porcelain. Her biggest pride and joy was being a grandmother.

Peggy is survived by a daughter Christy Miller and significant other John Libby of Wayne City, IL; 2 grandchildren: Zachary Phillips & wife Kellyn of Marion, IL and Chase Miller of Wayne City; a great-granddaughter Sawyer Reese Phillips; 2 sisters: Deborah Martin of Ocala, FL and Wilma Forwe & husband Roger of Ocala, FL; a brother David Walters & wife Suzanne of North Port, FL; a sister-in-law Tauni Walters of Richmond, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Woodrow Walters and Sarah (Hawkins) Luster, infant brother Charles Walters, sister Mary Duncan, brother Jack Walters, brother Donald Walters, and sister Phyllis Hood.

In accordance with Peggy’s wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no formal services.
