Sharon June (McCormick) Kissner, 73, of Fairfield, IL passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at StoneBridge Memory Care in Mt. Vernon, IL.

Sharon was born to Burl & Gladys (Butler) McCormick on February 19, 1950, the youngest of 7 children.  While attending Wayne City High School, she met the love of her life, Jerry Kissner.  They were married at the ages of 15 and 17 in 1965.  They farmed and raised three children together until his death in a farm accident in March of 1979.  She became a licensed practical nurse, and worked as a nurse to raise her family. In the 1980’s, she became a real estate agent and continued her career as a realtor until her retirement.  She owned and operated Kissner Morning Star Realty.  Sharon took great pride in her children and grandchildren.  She was active in church and had a great love of animals.  She was a member of the Church of God in Fairfield, IL and a member of the National Association of Realtors.

Sharon is survived by a son DeWayne Kissner (and wife Ruth) of Fairfield, IL; 2 daughters: Stacy Greenwalt (and husband Todd Niemann) of Wayne City, IL and Stephanie Sanders (and husband Bill) of Lewisburg, KY; 7 grandchildren: Caleb (Addison) Smith, Kali (Caleb) Riley, Ava Kissner, Perry Kimberlin, Kaylee Greenwalt, Jessica (Casey) Lowe, and Brian Sanders, 5 great-grandchildren, a brother Chester McCormick of Batavia, IL; 2 sisters: Betty (Lonnie) Hertenstein of Plano, IL and Judy Kissner of Grand Chain, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Burl & Gladys McCormick, husband Jerry Kissner, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Private family services for Sharon June (McCormick) Kissner will be held at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL followed by interment at Baltimore Cemetery in Wayne City.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Baltimore Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home.
