Shirley Ann (White) Gray

Shirley Ann (White) Gray, 79, of Mt. Vernon, IL passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Wayne City, IL.  Shirley was born June 7, 1945 in Aden, IL to Lehman & Josephine White.  On July 1, 1977 she married James Gray, who preceded her in death.

Shirley had formerly worked as the office manager for Roffman Management in Mt. Vernon, and had worked as a bookkeeper for Legg & Sons Oil Company and for NAPA in Wayne City.  She loved scrapbooking, and was known for gifting scrapbooks to family members.  She also enjoyed crafting and making cards to send to loved ones.  She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, and she enjoyed spending time with her friends & family.

Shirley is survived by a son Jeff (Robyn) Holland of Fredericksburg, VA; a daughter Jamie Gray of Wayne City; 3 grandchildren: Nathan (Kaylee) Holland, Brennon Yarnell, and Grayson Habermaas; 2 great-grandchildren: Audrina Holland and Claire Holland; a sister Ermal Henderson of Virginia; a brother Danny (Sharon) White of Opdyke, IL; a sister Sandra (David) Howell of Indiana; a brother-in-law Curtis “Bub” Forth, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lehman & Josephine White, her husband James Gray, a brother David Denton, a sister LelaMae Thomason, a sister Barbara Forth, a brother Everett White, and a sister-in-law Helen White.

In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, her body will be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
