Veta Christine (Bruce) Jones

Veta Christine Jones, 69, a resident of Bluford, IL passed away at Barnes-Jewish Hospital on Monday, August 5th, 2019.

Veta was born on New Year’s Day of 1950 to her parents Aaron Bruce and Verne (Collard) Bruce.  She was married in Orchardville, IL on August 15th, 1969 to her husband Larry Jones who survives.

She worked as a Registered Nurse at various nursing homes and attended the Salem Free Will Baptist Church in Bluford, IL.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and landscaping.  She loved cats and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Veta is survived by her husband Larry Jones of Bluford, 4 sons: Wayne Jones, Craig Fenton, Scott (wife Sherry) Jones, and Jody Jones all of Bluford; 4 sisters:  Cheryl (husband Artie) Smith of Bluford, Karen Sledge of Mattoon, IL; Teresa Warren of Bluford, and Brenda Walker of Tennessee; 1 brother Edward (wife Rochelle) Bruce of Fairfield, IL; 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by both parents and a granddaughter Holly Fenton.

A Memorial Service for Veta Christine Jones will be held at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019 at 3:00 pm with Pastor Bill Clark officiating.  Visitation will be held Wednesday at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 pm.

Memorials may be made to BJC Hospice and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City.
