William "Jerry" Jerome Burkett

William "Jerry" Jerome Burkett, 86, of Largo, FL and formerly of Wayne City, IL passed away at his home on Thursday, January 27, 2022.

Jerry was born October 11, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, IL to Rufus Earl Burkett & Grace Florence (Hook) Burkett.

When Jerry left Illinois in the early 1970's, he worked as a farmer.  He then transitioned to working in sales.  He was a member of the Reorganized Church or Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Jerry is survived by a daughter Jeri Sue Solaiman, 2 sons: Bill (Michelle) Burkett and Mike Burkett, 4 grandchildren: Tiffany (Ryan) Wakefield, Chad (Ioulia) Boggs, Ryan Burkett, Danielle Burkett, and 2 great grandchildren: Josie and Maya Boggs. 

He was preceded in death by both parents, and a grandson Joshua Burkett.

Funeral services for William "Jerry" Jerome Burkett will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, IL.  Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of service at 2:00 pm at Young Funeral Home on Saturday.  Burial will follow funeral services at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity in Jerry's memory, and will be accepted at Young Funeral Home in Wayne CIty.  Online condolences and words of encouragement may be left at www.youngfuneralhomellc.com
